Hi Friends! Welcome to Bloom Box- I am so glad you are here!

I created Bloom Box to combine my love for flowers, design, and creativity into one beautiful offering.

Bloom Box is more than just a flower shop. It’s a creative design studio where blooms meet intentional design. I believe flowers should feel personal and tell a story—whether you’re celebrating a milestone, comforting a friend, or simply treating yourself.

My goal is to create arrangements that speak to your heart, inspire joy, and reflect thoughtful beauty. I’ll also be sharing behind-the-scenes moments, floral care tips, design inspiration, and more right here on the blog.

Creativity has always been a part of who I am. However, my love of design was something that build slowly over the years and manifested in a number of different ways throughout my life. Whether it was sketching ideas in a notebook, rearranging furniture just for fun, or helping friends plan/decorate for events, I have always found the most joy when I had the freedom to make things lovely.

From Dream to Plan

I would not say that opening a flower shop has been my lifelong dream, but it was one of those 'AH-HA' moments in life for me. One of those moments where a thought or experience creates a shift, and you know something has just locked into place that will change the direction of your life.

What was that 'AH-HA' moment I hear you ask;)? Well, Plot twist there were TWO...so...STORY TIME.

I first discovered my love for plants when I was in High School, taking AP Biology. Nerdy- I know. I think a lot of people have one subject that just makes sense to them, for some people it's English, others it's math. I am a science girl through and through, which may not seem a natural progression toward creativity, quite the opposite actually. I would take this love of science with me to college where I would graduate with a degree in Conservation Biology, with an emphasis on plant ecology. Now as we all know life is not a linear experience and is more of a roller-coaster going up, down, and around seemingly all at the same time. I went to work at a Plant Nursery after graduation (because believe it or not Conservation Biology is not a hopping job market:). It was here that I found my love for Landscape design as one of my sales trainers was a residential and commercial designer.

This was my first 'AH-HA' Moment.

I would work there for three summers and by that third summer I knew what I needed to do. I promptly enrolled in a Landscape Architecture Graduate program. I told you I would get to the creative part eventually;) I would study and design for four years in this program and eventually leave for a job at a residential and commercial development company. I would design the 'Open Spaces" for our developments, i.e. parks, trails, etc., and often helping our civil engineer with utility lines, street layouts, and site plans. I would work with city planners on new developments and new city parks. Remember how I said life is a rollercoaster? Well after 6 years at my 9-5 corporate job, I found that I was no longer designing but helping with accounting, data management, even managing people rather than planting designs. I fell into the trap that many people do- of just going with the flow, living day to day, until you do not recognize who you are, and do not even remember what you like doing in your free time because 'free time'? what is that?? As work became more and more demanding and stressful I found it harder and harder to relax when I was not at work- which is when I started to reach full burn-out.

Thus my second 'AH-HA' moment

It was a random Thursday night, I was watching Hallmark and scrolling though housing listings on my phone - discouraged, because who isn't with this housing market! When I said out loud, exasperatedly:

"You know what! maybe I won't buy a house, maybe I will just buy a flower shop or something!"

A friend later said to me, "wait...why don't you open a flower shop?"

So...

From that random Thursday night, I started researching, learning, and talking to friends about this new venture. With overwhelming encouragement, I made a plan. Still working Full-time I started spending my evenings and weekends learning principles of color theory, arrangement styles, and less creative things like business registration and taxes, and website building.

After a few months I had everything organized and registered, and I was ready! Bloom Box was a reality. So, Let's go!

Thank You for Being Here

I can’t tell you how much it means to have you here at the very start of this beautiful journey. Bloom Box is a labor of love, and every bouquet, or blog post, is a part of this new journey of creativity, inspiration, and finding joy in life again. So, thank you to you for joining me on this path. I can’t wait to grow together.

I would love to hear from you, please leave a comment if there is anything in particular you would like to know about flowers or design. I have a whole series coming on flowers, what they mean, how to care for them, as well as how-to-tutorial posts about how to make beautiful arrangements.
